Five persons from Assam who sustained injuries in the landslide in Manipur, have arrived in Guwahati on July 4.

Assam minister Pijush Hazarika who went to Manipur to take stock of the situation helped the injured individuals reach Guwahati.

These five persons were rescued from the landslide site at Tupul in Manipur’s Noney district.

And their transportation from Guwahati to Morigaon will be arranged by the district administration, said Pijush Hazarika.

The rescued persons are – Maniram Phukan, Ramen Phukan, Maheswar Phukan, Jun Basumatary and Prahlad Basumatary.

The minister told reporters that 26 people from Assam were working at the site where the disaster occurred. Out of these, 24 were construction company workers.

One army jawan was killed in the landslide and his body has been to his home town in Bajali district. Apart from that, one railway engineer hailed from Golakganj is still missing.

So far bodies of nine people from Assam have been recovered. Pijush Hazarika said that the rescue operations are still going on at the site and the state government will take necessary steps if more bodies from the state recovered during operations.
