A man was handed over to Assam Police on Monday by Manipur Police for allegedly poaching a rhino in Assam.
Police said a report was received from SP Golaghat (Assam), Robin Kumar, about a rhino poacher, identified as Gouchin V Khamkhopau of Churachandpur district.
He was wanted in connection with a case at Bokahat Police Station. A team of Churachandpur Police in Manipur, under supervision of SP Shivanand Surve, gathered information about the person.
He was successfully tracked and picked up on July 11 and accordingly Assam Police was informed. Police team from Bokahat in Assam arrived on July 12 and took the accused into their custody after getting transit remand from the court and observing all legal formalities.
