Meghalaya Congress members protest in Shillong

Meghalaya Pradesh Congress Committee (MPCC) along with the Mahila Congress organized a rally from the party office to the office of the Enforcement Directorate (ED) in Shillong on July 27.

The protest march against the questioning of All India Congress Committee (AICC) president Sonia Gandhi by ED in the alleged money-laundering case was led by MPCC president Vincent H Pala.

The members of MPCC and the Mahila Congress along with placards and slogans alleged that the ED is being misused by the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) to suppress the opposition or anyone who does not support the BJP.

Speaking during the protest, MPCC president Vincent H Pala alleged that the BJP is misusing all central agencies to tackle the opposition anyone who are raising issues that the central government fails to address.

Pala claimed that the questioning of the AICC president by the ED is harassment to the party and the people of the country will not forgive the central government led by the BJP.

“From the MPCC we strongly condemn the central government for ‘misusing’ the central agencies like the ED or the CBI to harass the party leaders or anyone who opposes the ideas of the BJP,” said Pala.

This is the second time that AICC president Sonia Gandhi is being questioned by the ED in a money laundering case linked to the National Herald newspaper.
