As part of an initiative to promote the talented youth in the State by recognizing their talent and hard work in various activities, Imagenation, in collaboration with the Directorate of Sports and Youth Affairs, Meghalaya, announces the first ever Meghalaya Youth Community Awards. The tagline of this initiative has been aptly designed as “Dream…Dare …Shine”.

Ian Khongmen, Imagenation, said, “The month long activity has been conceptualized with the objective of encouraging and driving the youth to be agents of positive change. We believe that this unique event will be a catalyst that will inspire and facilitate positive thinking amongst the youth in Meghalaya. The winners will be chosen through a process of nomination and shortlisting and will be awarded in a glittering award ceremony at Shillong on August 12th, 2015, on the occasion of International Youth Day.”

askme.com, a local search engine with dial and online facilities, has joined the Meghalaya Youth Community Awards as the Digital Partner of the event. Through this platform, which is also available in app format, people will get information about the registration process, nominees, different categories, prizes etc. People will also get mails for this activity.

The categories for sending nominations for the awards are- Academics, Arts and Crafts, Organization, Other Sports, Community, Entrepreneur and Differently-abled. The winners will receive Cash Awards of INR 20,000/- each and Certificates during the Grand Finale. Only residents of Meghalaya are eligible for this award. Judges decision will be final in all precincts.

Nominations for the awards will close on 24th July 2015. One can send email to [email protected] or SMS to 7578872377 with the details of the nomination and category filed for. Only one nomination will be accepted for each category. The age of the nominee should be 40 years or below. All nominations must be sent in English.

Details of Award Categories:

ACADEMICS
(i) Writing – Students who are talented writers of books, essays, poets, columnists, articles, etc in their own right and who are yet to be recognized
(ii) Excellence – Those Students who are known for their innovation, unique skills and deserve to be encouraged

ARTS & CRAFTS
Students who have talent for Music, Singing, Painting, Sculpture, Dance, Design, Culinary, Weaving, etc and are yet to be recognized.

ORGANISATION
Any youth based organization that works amongst the youth or for the welfare of the youth or composed largely of young people that deserves to be awarded for its outstanding work as per its track record.

OTHER SPORTS
Youth who have excelled in unconventional sports such as adventure sports, extreme sports etc will be nominated for this category.

COMMUNITY
(i) Leadership – Youth, Students who have shown exceptional leadership qualities in their community & college.
(ii) Peace – Youth/Students who have contributed to maintaining peace, goodwill and harmony in their community

ENTREPRENEUR
(i) Enterprises in the Service sector
(ii) Enterprises in the Agri-Horticulture and Animal Husbandry sector

DIFFERENTLY-ABLED
Youth/Students who are differently-abled and deserve to be recognized for their talent and hard work in their respective field.
