Mizoram rations fuel supply following fall in supply

Petrol strike meghalaya

Mizoram government has ordered rationing on purchase of diesel and petrol following fall in supply, as many areas have come under a containment zone on Aizwal bypass road which connects the state with the rest of the country.

The order asked all filling stations to rationalise the distribution of fuel based on category or type of vehicles.

The limit fuel intake for scooty was fixed at 3 litres per vehicle, 5 litres for other two wheelers, 10 litres for light motor vehicles (LMV), 20 litres for maxicab, pickup truck, 407 or mini truck, gypsy and trucks, 100 litres for city bus and medium truck, an order said.

Vehicles carrying rice bags and other essential commodities will be allowed to get fuel which will be sufficed for up-down travel, the order said.

Drawing of fuel in containers or gallon barrels from filling stations is strictly prohibited, the order added.

Long lines of vehicles were seen near filling stations in Aizawl and elsewhere since August 11. Several pumps in the state capital have already run out of stock.
