Body of Tshering Lepcha of 11 Gorkha Rifles, who lost his life in the massive landslide in Manipur’s Noney district, arrived in West Bengal’s Bagdogra airport on July 2 on way to Sikkim.

A resident of Dzongu in North Sikkim district, Tshering Lepcha died in the landslide that occurred at the railway project site, destroying the barrack of the territorial army.

Sikkim chief minister PS Tamang while condoling the sad demise of Tshering Lepcha, said: “In this hour of grief I express my condolences to the bereaved family and pray for the safety of remaining soldiers.”

The toll in Manipur landslide went up to 27 on July 2, with the recovery of seven more bodies in Noney district as rescue operation was still on, officials said.
