The Nagaland government has started preparing for the Hornbill Festival 2022. The festival is held every year in the first week of December.
Nagaland chief minister Neiphiu Rio held a review meeting at the Bamboo Hall in Kisama on August 12 with all the line/sectoral departments to kickstart the preparations of Hornbill Festival 2022.
Commissioner & secretary, Kitto Zhimomi, updated on the progress of the works being done at Heritage Village for the Hornbill Festival. He also mentioned extending the festival which will involve the five new districts of the state.
The chief minister mentioned that there should be focus on basic amenities such as providing cosy and comfortable facilities to the visitors, drinking water, food, and sanitation. He also said that tourist accommodation and facilities should be designated by the department.
Advisor, tourism and art & culture, H Khehovi Yepthomi mentioned about the benefits of the Hornbill Festival and how it has been helping small business owners and helped in reviving, preserving and encouraging inter-tribal interaction.
Various departments highlighted the works being done presently at Kisama to give a facelift as well as to provide better amenities for the people during the festival.
