The Eastern Nagaland Peoples’ Organisation (ENPO) has warned all armed cadres of any underground faction or group to desist from creating mayhem in the jurisdiction of the ENPO, it was reported on December 19.

According to a press statement issued through its media cell, ENPO president R Tsapikiu Sangtam took serious note of the firing incident at Waphur village under Shamator sub-division on December 17 and said that the incident created fear psychosis in the minds of the general public, threatening the peace and tranquillity in Naga society in general and ENPO area in particular.

Tsapikiu reiterated the earlier ENPO resolution and warned that such kind of action would only attract non-cooperation against any group or faction involved.

Meanwhile, Nagaland deputy chief minister and in-charge minister of home Yanthungo Patton has condemned the firing incident at Wapher village, Shamator under Tuensang district on December 17 morning.

In a statement Patton said it was unfortunate the incident took place, “when the entire world was set to welcome the birth of Jesus Christ, the Prince of Peace”.

He said that a case has been registered and the perpetrators shall be brought to book. He also warned that persons trying to create fear psychosis and disturbed peace of the land should be punished.
