Prime Minister Narendra Modi is likely to visit Assam on August 1 to access the recent floods in the state.

“During his visit the prime minister will discuss matters incorporating all the aspects relating to the recent floods in Assam with the chief minister and various officials at Guwahati,” a government release said.

“He is likely to take up the matters relating to flood management and protection. The prime minister will also take stock of the damage caused by the floods,” the information added.

This comes after prime minister’s Gujarat rush when it witnessed severe flood conditions ignoring the hardships faced by the region was slammed by the citizens.

Earlier on Friday, the PMO announced ex-gratia for the victims of the recent wave of floods in the state from the Prime Minister’s Relief Fund.
