NorthEast United FC (NEUFC) took the lead in the 2nd minute against ATK Mohun Bagan but finally end up losing the match 2-3 in Indian Super League (ISL) match at the PJN stadium in Fatorda on December 21.

A disappointed Khalid Jamil, the head coach, lamented the various lapses that led to the three goals for the Mariners.

“We didn’t do well, that’s why we lost the match. That’s a simple thing,” Khalid Jamil said after the match.

“Talking about the first goal, we can say it was an individual error. For the second goal, we were out of shape and for the third goal the man-marking was missing. So it cost us.”

With several lapses in the defense line, is there a need to look for some new defenders for NEUFC in the January transfer window?

“Yes, we have to see. There will be a replacement for (Federico) Gallego but the rest we will have to see,” the 44-year-old tactician said.

He also hopes that the injuries of Gurjinder Kumar and Khassa Camara are not serious enough.

“We have to check that (status of injuries). We are hoping that it won’t be very serious.”

On December 27, the Highlanders will be playing against Mumbai City FC.

“We have to bounce back and think about the next match. This is the only solution,” the former India midifielder signed off.

The NEUFC is placed in the ninth position with seven points.
