A new positive case of COVID-19 has been detected in Assam, after a gap of five days since the last reported cases, taking the tally to 43.

Assam Health Minister Himanta Biswa Sarma informed through Twitter of the detection of the new case in Goalpara district from where a few more cases were reported earlier.

“Alert – One person from Goalpara has tested positive for COVID-19. Since the person is under containment zone, there is no need to fear,” he tweeted.

This latest case comes five days after the last five cases were detected on April 30, including four from Bongaigaon district without any known direct contact history with other positive patients.

The total number of cases in the state now stands at 43, of which one has died due to complications caused by the infection and 32 discharged from hospitals following complete recovery.
