Dismissing demands from several corners for relaxation in liquor ban in Bihar, chief minister Nitish Kumar on December 20 said that liquor ban would continue strictly in the state.

He said that those advocating for a change in law on liquor ban should remember that a unanimous resolution was passed both in assembly and legislative council for complete liquor ban in the state.

Nitish Kumar, while interacting with media persons after ‘Janata Darbar ‘ organised at CM secretariat premises, said that complete liquor ban was imposed in Bihar after unanimous resolution was passed both in assembly and legislative council.

All legislators had also taken pledge not only for extending their full support in execution of complete liquor ban but also for not consuming liquor, he further said. CM Nitish Kumar further added that the legislators had also taken a pledge to motivate others for not consuming liquor.

To a query on demand for relaxation in liquor ban made by former Bihar chief minister Jeetan Ram Manjhi, also president of Hindustani Awam Morcha (HAM), a constituent of ruling NDA in the state, the chief minister said that he would not comment on such things.

The chief minister said that he had nothing to say on such kind of demands as those advocating for a change in prohibition law had earlier supported the resolution in the house.
