“The films should be censored between January 1, 2016 and December 31, 2016. The last date for receipt of the application along with blue-ray is November 15,” said president of Sailadhar Baruah Memorial Trust, Mrinmoy Baruah.

The members added that they will organise competitions on editing, sound design, film making and many more. From these categories, they will award one winner. Last year, the winner was from sound design.

The best film will get a cash award of Rs 50,000. The cash award was increased by Rs 10,000 from the last awards. The best director will be awarded with a certificate, a memento and a cash prize of Rs 25,000.

The award is given in memory of award-winning film producer of Assam Sailadhar Baruah. He is best remembered for his visionary contribution to Assamese cinema as the producer of some of the greatest Assamese movies ever made, such as Halodhia Choraye Baodhan Khai and Xagoroloi Bohudoor. Baruah died on January 10, 2010 at the age of 68.
