Northeast Foodtech, organised at the Maniram Dewan Trade Centre in Guwahati, is showcasing best of the food technology industry. One of the first such large-scale programmes in the Northeast, the exhibition was inaugurated by Assam agriculture, horticulture and food processing minister Atul Bora on April 28.
The three-day exhibition, organized and marketed by Delhi-based firm NK Kapur & Co Pvt Ltd, has been supported by Hotel & Restaurant Association of Assam and many big players in the field of bakery & confectionery, processed food, sweet & snacks industry of the Northeast.
The premier B2B (business-to-business) exhibition has three main segments namely food processing, bakery & confectionery and hospitality sectors. Over the three days of the exhibition, there would be seminars, conferences, product launches, buyer-seller meets, interactive sessions with students, culinary competitions and free-sampling.
Speaking on their foray into the northeast India, regional head, NK Kapur & Co. and chief convenor of Northeast Foodtech, Zakir Hossain said, “Northeast Foodtech is an ideal forum for startup business in food & hospitality industry. The entrepreneurs of northeast will be benefited enormously in this exhibition.”
Tridib Sarma, secretary, Hotel & Restaurant Association of Assam said, “Northeast Foodtech, probably is the best thing that has happened for the hotel industry and the budding entrepreneurs of the state in recent days. It will establish a direct contact between the manufacturers and the end users in the hospitality and food processing sector. The exhibition displays food machinery, bakery & confectionery equipment, food ingredients & additives, hotel & restaurant equipment, catering equipment, food packaging technology, dairy equipment, snack & sweet making machinery, industrial kitchen & refrigeration system, bakery & confectionery accessories and many more.
