An export consignment carrying 2,283 metric ton of Gasoil (Diesel) was dispatched from NRL’s marketing terminal in Siliguri in presence of officials from NRL and Excise Department of West Bengal, said a press statement on Wednesday.

The railway rake will travel via Radhikapur (India) – Birol (Bangladesh) border to be unloaded at Parbatipur Depot of M/s Bangladesh Petroleum Corporation.

This is the 4th Railway rake dispatch of High Speed Diesel (HSD) to Bangladesh since 2016 and is the outcome of discussion and affirmative relationship between the two governments, in sync with the ‘Neighbourhood First Policy’ of Indian government to boost bilateral trade between the two countries and sub-regional cooperation within SAARC.

The dispatch follows the high profile flag off of a goodwill rake containing 2284 MT of HSD from NRL’s Siliguri marketing terminal to Bangladesh on April 8 this year by Prime Minister Narendra Modi and his Bangladesh counterpart Sheikh Hasina through remote device from New Delhi.

Earlier on March 17 in 2016, union minister of state for petroleum and natural gas, Dharmendra Pradhan, flagged off a rail rake consignment carrying 2200 MT of HSD from NRL’s Siliguri marketing terminal to Parbatipur Depot of Bangladesh Petroleum Corporation. Another similar dispatch of 2281 MT of HSD was made of January 12 this year.

NRL plans to export three more rakes during October 2017 as per requirement of Bangladesh Petroleum Corporation.
