The National Socialist Council of Nagalim (NSCN-IM) observed 25 years of the Indo-Naga ceasefire at the Mission Centre, WBCC, 7th Mile in Dimapur on August 1.

According to an NSCN-IM press statement, chairman, CFMG (Cease Fire Monitoring Group), Amarjeet Singh Bedi was present as a special invitee.

“Others who attended the meeting were leaders from Naga Hoho, Eastern Nagaland People’s Organization (ENPO), United Naga Council (UNC), Naga Council Dimapur (NCD), Naga People’s Movement for Human Rights (NPMHR), Forum for Naga Reconciliation (FNR), Naga Mother’s Association (NMA), Naga Students’ Federation (NSF), Global Naga Forum (GNF) and Tenyimi Union, Dimapur (TUD),” the statement of the NSCN-IM informed.

“Naturally, they all expressed concern for the long years of the Indo-Naga ceasefire which is yet to find a solution to the Naga political issue,” the statement also said.

According to the NSCN-IM, VS Atem, member of the collective leadership of the NSCN and “team leader”, Cease Fire Ground Rules Review Committee (CFGRRC) who delivered the keynote speech said: “25 years is a long period in human life and 25 years of ceasefire is not a joke.”

The NSCN-IM statement added that many things have happened during this period – both good and bad. “But the NSCN is still struggling to solve the problem,” the team leader pointed out.

The occasion was marked by releasing a booklet called “25 Years of Indo-Naga Ceasefire (1997- 2022)”.
