NRL wax, produced at Numaligarh in Assam is now on its way to Indonesia and Dominican Republic. An export consignment comprising of 40 MT of fully refined paraffin wax (FRPW) was exported on February 15.

The consignment was flagged off from the marketing terminal at Numaligarh Refinery Limited by general manager (tech) N Borthakur.

With this, the total export of paraffin wax from NRL’s wax plant stands at 2,172 MT.

Earlier, NRL wax has been exported to 8 countries namely Mexico, Kenya, Nepal, Bangladesh, Nicaragua, Thailand, Hong Kong (China) and Brazil. The company is also pursuing opportunities to export wax to a few other countries in the near future.

Prime Minister Narendra Modi dedicated NRL’s wax plant to the nation on February 5 last year. The 50,000 MT wax plant, commissioned in March 2015 at a cost of Rs 676 crore, is the country’s largest wax producing unit with indigenous technology developed by IIP Dehradun, EIL and NRL. Since commissioning of the wax plant, NRL has emerged as the largest manufacturer and marketer of wax in the country.
