Nurse dies of COVID-19 in Sikkim

Sikkim reported death of a frontline health worker due to COVID-19 complications on September 18.

An assistant nursing superintendent of Government Hospital in Gangtok died of COVID-19 on September 18, officials said.

The assistant nursing superintendent was serving an emergency ward and got the infection. She was hospitalized only to be discharged for home quarantine but on September 16 she was admitted to STNM Hospital in Gangtok.

“This valiant daughter of Sikkim gave her life fighting for the rest of us. We must understand that the sister has made the supreme sacrifice for Sikkim. The pandemic has come with a great challenge and we can overcome this crisis only together,” said former chief minister and MLA PK Chamling while condoling the death of the COVID warrior.
