A new COVID-19 positive case was detected in Manipur on May 17 thus taking the total number of patients to 7 in the state.

A 22-year-old girl was found COVID-19 positive after testing at VRDL, JNIMS. She came from Chennai on a train arranged by the state government. She was quarantined at the community quarantine centre, Saikot. She developed fever on May 14.

She was immediately brought to District Hospital Churachandpur and admitted in the COVID-19 isolation facility. Her sample was collected on May 14 and her result was received in the evening on May 16.

With this, there are five active cases in the state. The first two patients recovered from the disease and were released from the hospital.

Earlier in the day, two cases were reported from two Mumbai returnees.
