After working with several big names in Mumbai, Assam filmmaker Arunjit Borah is coming up with his first feature film as director, Midnight Song. The Assamese language film has been collaborated with American and German artistes.

Arunjit, who has worked with actors like Om Puri in Project Marathwada, said that he always wanted to start his career making an Assamese language film.

“Because I’m from Assam, I wanted to start my career with an Assamese language film. This is a thriller which deals about the human relationships and emotions. It’s a story that took place during a night. I have tried to give it a slightly different touch. I’m hopeful about it,” Arunjit said.

Arunjit, who has already worked in collaboration with artistes from different countries, has fusioned Mising Oinitom (Bihu) with Opera songs. “I think this can be really interesting. The film has one song with Assamese and English lyrics and it has been written by Rajdweep and Megan Scott. The song has been sung by Zublee and Megan Scott of US and composed by Vanessa Donili of Germany. I’m thankful to all the artistes for doing a tremendous work,” Arunjit said. Earlier, Arunjit made a tourism advertisement film on Jammu.

National award winning sound mixer Debajit Changmai has designed and mixed the sound for the film. The film is being produced by Aparijita Bhuyan.

The MBA graduate turned filmmaker is also hopeful that doing collaboration with western artistes in making his film will help it reaching to a wider audience.

“The exchange of culture is very important besides it definitely helps in getting into more number of viewers globally,” Arunjit said.

The film has three characters which have been portrayed by Kalpana Kalita, Manoj Borkotoky and Rupam Chetia.
