The West Siang unit of Arunachal Pradesh Doctors’ Association (APDA) has distributed 10,400 masks to public within a week after launching ‘Masks for All’ campaign on April 12, in the wake of the Coronavirus outbreak.
A team of doctors comprising APDA secretary Dr Olen Tatak, Dr Tomar Kamki, Dr T Kaye, Dr Jumge Padu, Dr Gedo Kamsi, Dr Nyade Padu Bagra along with West Siang Bar Association president Minrik Noshi and selected volunteers have been distributing masks to people moving without it, an official said on Saturday.
The official also said that nodal officers Dorjee Nima and Sapbi Yomcha have disclosed that 14 persons who have entered the district from outside are put under facility quarantine.
The district has around 200 seats in the quarantine facilities for symptomatic and asymptomatic males and females at six designated locations, he said in a statement.
“Altogether 1030 migrant laborers have been provided with ration from NDRF fund and volunteers are on the move to reach out to targeted groups,” the official added.
He further informed that donation from various quarters is flowing in to help the doctors in fighting the Coronavirus disease.
“Many of the rent owners at Aalo have also waived the rents due to shutdown on humanitarian grounds,” the official added.
Meanwhile, as per bulletin issued by Directorate of Health Services on Saturday, of 389 samples collected so far for suspected COVID-19 for laboratory testing, 356 tested negative and results of 31 are still awaited.
It may be mentioned that the lone COVID-19 positive patient of the state was discharged from the Zonal General Hospital Tezu on Friday, after testing negative for twice.
