Bihar government on April 9 announced partial lockdown to control the second wave of COVID-19 pandemic in the state. Under the new guidelines, all shops and establishments in the state will remain closed after 7 pm till April 30, excluding restaurants and motels which are allowed to be open with 25% sitting capacity.

Concerned with the increasing cases of COVID-19, chief minister Nitish Kumar, after a review meeting, said that the state government will impose partial ban till April 30.

Briefing the decisions taken in the review meeting, principal health secretary Amrit Pratyaya said that schools and colleges would remain closed till April 18, however the pre-scheduled examinations would be conducted following the guidelines issued for COVID-19 strictly.

The official added that cinema halls are allowed to run with only 50% audience capacity. He said that the shops and establishments will have to follow strict COVID-19 norms like mandatory wearing of masks, hand sanitization and maintaining physical distancing.

He added that home delivery and take away services are allowed.

The official added that religious places have been closed for the common people till April 30.
