The Federation of Khasi Jaintia and Garo People (FKJGP) has asked the East Khasi Hills district administration to take stern action against dealers who are indulging in overcharging the price of the domestic LPG cylinders.

In a letter to the East Khasi Hills deputy commissioner, FKJGP assistant general secretary Reginald Thabah said many domestic gas distributors/agencies charge domestic LPG cylinder more than the rate provided by IndianOil.

“So therefore, we urge you to kindly send the officers in charge to check and investigate the matter and if found in such cases, the district administration should take stern action against the dealer,” Thabah said.

He also warned: “If your office is taking this matter seriously, we have no other option, otherwise our organization will perform the checking by itself.”

Thabah also requested the deputy commissioner to inform or pre-notice the rate of domestic LPG refuelling every month through electronic or print media so as to enable the public to know the exact rate of the refuelling cylinder.
