Prime Minister Narendra Modi visited Guwahati on Tuesday to take stock of post flood situation and rehabilitation measures undertaken by the Northeast states. The prime minister announced Rs 2000 crore for the Northeast states for the repair and rehabilitation of flood damage structures and flood affected people in the region.

The prime minister reviewed the measures taken by the state governments at a meeting held at Assam Administrative Staff College, Khanapara in the presence of chief ministers of Assam, Arunachal Pradesh and Nagaland. The prime minister held separate review meetings with the chief ministers and officials of Nagaland and Arunachal Pradesh and took stock of the flood situation.

The prime minister also announced Rs 100 crore for in-depth study of river Brahmaputra and its tributaries and another Rs 250 crore for immediate relief and rehabilitation for the flood hit people of Assam.
