As the country nears the end of the third phase of the lockdown, Prime Minister Narendra Modi will on May 12 night address the nation on issues related to COVID-19 pandemic.
“Mr Narendra Modi will be addressing the nation at 8 PM this evening,” the Prime Minister’s office said.
This will be Prime Minister’s third address to the nation since the announcement of the lockdown on March 23.
It is expected that in his address, the PM will unveil a roadmap to ease the lockdown, which has now been in force across the country for nearly two months.
At a meeting with the PM, through video conferencing in Monday, many chief ministers favoured another extension of the lockdown, which is scheduled to end on May 17.
In his meeting with chief ministers on Monday, the PM, while emphasising on continuing with measures to prevent spread of Coronavirus infection, said all the states and UTs should plan for the new reality.
The PM and the chief ministers discussed the roadmap for reviving the economy in the coming days.
He said the suggestions made by the states in this regard have been given due consideration.
The PM said that the efforts now should be to stop the spread of the dreaded virus in rural areas.
