Prime minister Narendra Modi will formally inaugurate the golden jubilee celebration of the popular Assamese newspaper Agradoot on July 6.

A statement issued by the newspaper said that the PM has consented to be a part of the inaugural ceremony of the year-long golden jubilee celebrations. And accordingly, the prime minister will join the event through video conference on July 6.

The main event will be held at the Srimanta Sankardev International Auditorium at Kalakshetra in Guwahati where the Assam chief minister and other dignitaries will be present.

Kanak Sen Deka has started the newspaper Agradoot on February 1 in 1971. Initially, it was bi-weekly before starting another daily with the same name – Dainik Agradoot.

Though the newspaper has already completed its 50th-year last year but the celebration couldn’t be started because of the COVID-19 pandemic, the statement mentioned.

The management of the newspaper has thanked the readers of the state and all the Assamese community all across the globe for their unconditional love and support.

As a part of the golden jubilee celebration, the newspaper house will publish a series of books.
