Police in Assam’s Karimganj district seized 314 kg of ganja and 315 bags of Burmese supari (Burmese betelnut) and apprehended four persons in two separate operations at Churaibari area along Assam-Tripura border.

Based on secret information, Karimganj district police set up naka checking at Churaibari area and seized 31 packets of ganja weighing 314 kg from a truck.

Police had also apprehended the driver and handyman of the truck.

A police officer said that the truck was coming from Agartala towards Kolkata via Guwahati.

“The estimated value of the seized ganja is at around Rs 31 lakh. We have apprehended two persons,” the police officer said.

In a separate operation, police seized 315 bags of Burmese supari from a truck which was coming from Agartala towards Guwahati.

Two persons were also apprehended.
