Punjab National Bank (PNB) organised a felicitation ceremony on International Women’s Day on March 8 to commemorate women employees for their commitment and standing together as a family in making the banking experience seamless during the pandemic.

As part of its CSR initiative, Punjab National Bank has collaborated with Thy Kingdom Come Foundation, an NGO based out of New Delhi. The bank has installed automated sanitary pad vending machines and electric incinerators at different NGO locations in New Delhi. PNB also gave sewing machines and distributed sanitary pads.

“PNB has an illustrious history of 127 years, where women employees have been equal growth partners, who have been the harbingers of transformation and have been a part of the overall growth story. Today, 5.56% of top management of PNB consists of women workforce and 21.27% constitute the clerical staff. Also, the officer cadre in Punjab National Bank makes up a whopping 24% of women workforce, from all cadre scale 1 to 8,” said a statement from the company.

Speaking on the occasion, Ch SS Mallikarjuna Rao, MD & CEO at Punjab National Bank said: “Over the years, women have played a multifaceted role in in eminently managing their responsibilities. We have seen an increase in women workforce and women entrepreneurs in multiple domains and geographies, yet it is not enough. Our objective is to increase women’s participation and that is only possible when we recreate a more balanced environment.”
