Robbery at MP Jewellers on GS Road: Two ‘robbers’, security guard held

Acting swiftly on the MP Jewellers robbery case, wherein the GS Road gold store was looted by 4 robbers on May 9 evening, police on May 10 arrested two alleged robbers along with the security guard of the showroom.

The robbery took place around 7 pm on May 9. The security guard reportedly took leave citing ill health. According to eyewitnesses, 4 robbers, wearing masks, entered the jewellery showroom and fired blank cartridges and threatened to shoot shop employees before decamping with 6-7 kg of gold worth almost Rs 21 crores.

Police said that one of the robbers has been identified as Ramesh alias Boga while the other robber was yet to be identified. The security guard – Prem Singh – was arrested from Hojai.
