Bollywood designer Ashley Rebello conducts workshop in Guwahati

The Guwahati centre of Inter National Institute of Fashion Design (INIFD) hosted an exclusive workshop on finer intricacies of fashion designing by ace Bollywood designer Ashley Rebello on Friday (June 17). The celebrity designer of Bollywood, who is also the exclusive stylist of actor Salman Khan, was at INIFD to teach the art of fashion design to the budding designers at Inter National Institute of Fashion Design.

Centre director at INIFD, Pratik Agarwal, spoke in an interaction with the media on the sidelines of the workshop and said, “At INIFD, we believe that industry exposure is of paramount importance to help groom the upcoming designers and prepare them for the professional industry. Hence, Ashley Rebello has visited INIFD to brush up the talent of the students and to teach them the finer intricacies of the fashion designing. INIFD has organized this exclusive workshop with Ashley Rebello to enable the students to interact and learn under his seasoned guidance.”

During the press interaction, Ashley Rebello said, “I believe that clothes are not just something you wear to cover your skin; clothes have to be your second skin. You have to be one with that outfit; almost as if you were born for it. Hence, it is very important for the new-gen designers to have a proper understanding of the finer intricacies of designing. This workshop is just a means to achieve that.”

“It is an amazing experience to meet the new generation designers and learn about their ideas and creations. Hence, despite my busy schedule, I have been visiting INIFD centres across India. As a Mentor to the INIFD students, I am teaching the ‘Art of Designing’ to them. I am impressed with the immense talent in the design students of INIFD Guwahati”, he added.

Ashley Rebello, who is an INIFD mentor, shared the intricacies of his designs in his upcoming projects like ‘Sultan’, ‘Dabangg 3’ & ‘Bigg Boss – Season 10’ with the students. During the workshop, Rebello briefed the students about the design industry, how to start their own venture, the intricacies of designing for celebrities, etc.

The workshop was a great learning experience for the INIFD Guwahati students, which provided them with hands on experience of being trained by a star designer. After the workshop, Ashley felicitated the students with certificates and acknowledged the hard work of the students during the academic year.

He has also designed for Shahrukh Khan, Salman Khan, Aamir Khan, Shahid Kapur, Imran Khan, etc. Ashley also has to his credit the exclusive gowns that he designs for all important international pageants like Miss Universe, Miss World and Miss India. He has designed outfits for Nicole Kidman, Hunter Tylor and other Hollywood stars.
