In a bid to enhance the development of football at the grassroots, Shillong Lajong Football Club has come together with the Meghalaya government and the Asian Development Bank to provide free of cost training and Grassroots, D License and C License Coaching Certification exclusively for 312 youth coaches in Meghalaya.

The club’s Spanish UEFA Pro License, technical director Jose Carlos Rodriguez Hevia, will undertake a technical enhancement course to inculcate the training methods and standards of the Spanish and European models to the 288 selected candidates of the D License and Grassroots program and the 24 selected candidates of the C License program.

“The training program will be conducted over 10 months, which will contain both theory and practical lessons, aimed to help all the aspiring candidates enhance their football coaching knowledge,” a statement released by the club said.

After the candidates complete the course with the technical director, the D License Certification course will be conducted by an AIFF certified instructor as per the locations of each batch while the C License Certification course will be conducted by an AFC Certified instructor in two separate modules.

The selected locations of the D License Program are Shillong (Two batches), Pynursla, Sohra, Nongstoin, Mawkyrwat, Nongpoh, Bhoi Rymbong, Jowai, Khliehriat, Williamnagar and Tura.

The C License program will be conducted in Shillong for candidates who are already AIFF certified D License coaches.
