Sikkim is now open for tourists who are fully vaccinated against COVID-19, state government officials said on July 4.

The Sikkim government on July 4 announced lifting of several restrictions which were imposed earlier to contain the spread of COVID-19.

The lockdown, which was to end on July 5 will continue with certain relaxations till July 12.

Tourists and others will be allowed to enter the state from Melli and Rangpo, if they have taken both the doses of vaccination against COVID-19. “They are no longer required to produce RTPCR test negative report. Only certificate of vaccination will be sufficient,” an order issued by principal home secretary, Ravindra Telang, said.

The order stressed on strictly following the COVID-19 protocols.

“All hotels, guest houses and home stays will now be allowed to function with 50% capacity. Malls and showrooms will also be allowed to open. All government offices, public sector undertakings, boards and corporations (state government) will be functioning with 100% attendance of those employees who have taken both the doses of vaccine against COVID-19. Others will continue with 50% as is already happening,” the order said.

Pillion riders have also been allowed on all two wheelers. Factories, have also been allowed to function with 100% capacity having taken both the COVID jabs.

Sikkim has inoculated more than 5 lakh population against the viral infection according to CoWIN data. Among these, 85,000 people completed both the dose of vaccination.
