Sikkim, which was free from COVID-19 till last week of May, reported four new positive cases on June 6, taking the tally to seven in the state.

Three of the four patients were admitted at the government hospital in Gangtok.

“A patient from Denchung and one from Kamrang were suspected of being infected. Their report from North Bengal Medical College Hospital in Siliguri confirmed them COVID-19 positive on June 6,” said Dr Pempa Tshering Bhutia, Director General cum Secretary Health.

They are being shifted from Namchi hospital in South Sikkim to government hospital in Gangtok.

A 21-year-old female from Nandok East was found positive while contact tracing process and a 22-year-old male contact of a stranded returnee youth from Maharashtra also tested positive on June 6.
