Sikkim reports third COVID-19 death, total cases mount to 1232

Sikkim on August 19 reported third death due to Novel Coronavirus related complications.

“A 57-year-old patient was admitted to government hospital on August 14, following Cellulitis infection, leading to multiple organ dysfunction. Test for COVID-19 was also conducted and he was found positive. He succumbed to the infection today. He will be cremated according to the guidelines set by the Government of India,” said Pempa Tshering Bhutia, secretary Health department.

The number of active cases of COVID-19 in the state stands at 440 while 789 have been cured and discharged.

So far 1232 people have tested positive for COVID-19 in Sikkim.

On August 19, 25 new COVID-19 cases were recorded in the state. Out of these are East district reported 24 cases while the South district reported one case.
