Smuggled gold from Assam worth Rs 4 crore seized in Bengal

Smuggled gold biscuits from Assam worth around Rs 4 crore was seized during transit and three accused were arrested from Nagrakata in north Bengal district of Jalpaiguri.

The arrest and seizure were made on October 10 evening after policemen along with customs officials laid a trap following an input on NH 31.

The gold, nearly 8.3 kg was being smuggled from Guwahati to Siliguri.

This was one of the major seizures in recent time after lockdown.
