Assam CM Sarbananda Sonowal in Lumding

Assam Chief Minister Sarbananda Sonowal on September 15 laid the foundation stone of infrastructure development project of a Kali temple and a Shitala temple under Assam Darshan Scheme at Lumding.

Under the scheme both the infrastructural projects have been granted Rs 10 lakh each.

Sonowal also paid a visit to Lumding Namghar, paid obeisance and addressed the devotees.

Speaking on the occasion, Sonowal said the state government under Assam Darshan Scheme is committed to protect and promote temples, satra, devalaya, etc.

After 70 years of independence, for the first time any government has taken such step for the socio-cultural and spiritual development of people and institutions, he said.

He also said Srimanta Sankaradev had enriched the lives of the people of Assam and the teachings of the Vaishnavite saint are embedded with the virtues of humanity.

At a time when the entire state is going through an unprecedented situation because of COVID-19 pandemic, Sonowal urged upon the people to adhere to safety protocols, wear masks, maintain adequate personal distances and fight against the pandemic.
