Assam chief minister Sarbananda Sonowal laid the foundation stone of Shri Badala Padma Aata Kalakshetra at Sonarigaon, Kalibor in Nagaon district on May 25.

Sonowal laid the foundation stone prior to taking part in the open session of the 472nd birth anniversary celebration of Shri Badala Padma Aata and All Assam Bhaona Samaroh celebration. The birth anniversary and Bhaona Samaroh celebration was organized by Shri Badala Padma Aata Kalakshetra Management Committee under the aegis of Shri Badala Padma Aata Seva Samiti.

Addressing the gathering as chief guest, Sonowal announced that the state government would take steps for setting up a chair in the name of the Shri Badala Padma Aata at Madhabdev University at Bihpuria soon. He also informed that the Nagaon deputy commissioner has already been directed to expeditiously construct the boundary wall of the proposed Kalakshetra. Sonowal also assured to complete the construction works of the Madhabdev Kalakshetra at Narayanpur in Lakhimpur district soon.

Sonowal also stressed on the need for imparting spiritual teaching to the youth. “While knowledge in the field of science and technology help in boosting professional excellence, spiritual education builds sound character and personality of the youth”, he observed.

The chief minister also underlined the contributions of Shri Balada Padma Aata to the society and urged the youth to follow his ideals to build a better society. He also called upon the gathering to lead a socially responsible life to take the society to attain higher excellence.

Water resources minister Keshav Mahanta, chairman of Assam State Tourism Development Corporation Jayanta Malla Baruah, editor-in-chief of Pratidin Time Nitumoni Saikia also delivered speech in the open session.
