The people of Barak Valley are looking up to the newly formed BJP-led alliance government in Assam to usher in development. While people believe that the change in government could lead to development in the region, chief minister Sarbananda Sonowal has said that he has issued instructions to the ministries and administrative officials concerned to work with dedication and commitment to bring a visible change in all aspects of public life in the Valley in the next three months. This comes as a relief to the Valley as the chief minister further added that he would visit Barak Valley after three months to review the situation.

“People of Barak Valley are disgusted with corruption at every level of public affairs and are frustrated listening to the rhetoric dished out by political leaders in the past. I want to assure the people that with transparency and accountability being the guiding principles of the party, the state government is committed to work for the development of Barak Valley,” the chief minister said. “I have given clear instructions to the concerned officials to work for the change people are desperately waiting for. I wish to visit Barak Valley again after three months and I would come by road to see that the condition has improved,” he added. The chief minister was addressing senior citizens at a meeting at Banga Bhawan, organised by the Cachar district administration.

People poured their heart out to the chief minister putting forth the burning issues, like dilapidated roads, poor rail and air connectivity, women safety, etc., hindering development of the valley.
