Following reports of Centre’s proposed disinvestment in the Bharat Petroleum Corporation Limited (BPCL) and its impact on Assam’s Numaligarh Refinery Ltd wherein BPCL is the largest shareholder, Assam Chief Minister Sarbananda Sonowal on October 14 wrote to the central government.
“The BPCL is the largest shareholder in NRL and if BPCL is privatised, NRL will go into the hands of a private player,” a statement released by the Chief Minister’s Office said.
The release did not mention the contents of the letter.
