“In wake of incessant rains and disrupted connectivity with Barak Valley, we’re resuming government-subsidized flights between Guwahati and Silchar, from June 18,” said Assam chief minister Himanta Biswa Sarma on June 17.

The flight fare has been fixed at Rs 4 thousand.

This is being done in association with Assam Tourism Development Corporation (ATDC) and Fly Big airlines.

“I advise all stranded passengers not to panic, and get the bookings,” the CM added.

The tickets will be available at a special counter at the Silchar deputy commissioner’s office and at the ATDC office in Paltan Bazar in Guwahati.

Due the heavy rain, the connectivity between Guwahati and Silchar got disrupted on June 16. A major landslide occurred on national highway 06 in Meghalaya. This also caused disturbances to the communication to Tripura and parts of Mizoram.
