Good run continues for Rima Das as her film Bulbul Can Sing has received the Special Mention from the ‘Generation 14 plus International Jury’ at the Berlin International Film Festival popularly known as Berlinale in Germany on Saturday.

The Village Rockstars director said that it’s a great moment to get the honour at the Berlinale which is one of the oldest and most prestigious film festivals in the globe.

“I’m extremely pleased and honoured to have received this important award as special mention,” Rima texted to The News Mill just after the event.

Besides directing and writing the script, she has also produced the film like her previous ones. The film narrates the story of Bulbul a teenage school-going girl, growing up in a rural setting in Assam. While she is in the verge of discovering her teen life, a tragedy strikes with her best friend. Then a spirited Bulbul fights her way through love and loss as she figures out who she really is.

“Bulbul Can Sing talks about teenagers, issues they face in school and surroundings and their life in general. I am earnestly grateful that our work is recognised and thankful to the cast and crew, family and friends and everyone for their love and encouragement,” Rima added.

The film also had its European premiere during the festival on February 12.
