SpiceJet on Thursday announced the launch of three new direct flights from Guwahati connecting Pakyong in Gangtok, Patna and Hyderabad.
The non-stop flight services on the Guwahati-Patna-Guwahati route and Guwahati-Hyderabad-Guwahati route will start from October 10.
The daily direct connectivity on the Guwahati-Pakyong (Gangtok)-Guwahati route would be effective from October 16.
The announcement of the new flights was made in presence of Assam chief minister Sarbananda Sonowal at the chief minister’s office on September 20. On the occasion, chief marketing officer at SpiceJet Debojo Maharshi handed over the first ticket and boarding pass to chief minister Sarbananda Sonowal marking the formal announcement of the launch of the new flight services.
Appreciating SpiceJet’s initiative, chief minister Sonowal termed the development as a golden opportunity for the state. He said that the new flights would not only boost trade, education and health, but would also facilitate higher footfall of tourists from other states to Assam.
Sonowal informed that during the Advantage Assam: Global Investors’ Summit, SpiceJet CMD Ajay Singh gave assurance to the state government for giving a new boost to air connectivity in regional routes from Assam.
