Students from Assam have shown brilliant performance in academics and campus placements, the Mohali-baed Chandigarh University has said in an interaction with the media in Guwahati on September 23. Addressing the media, the university spokesperson said that be it the academic results in board examination, capturing top positions in university or campus recruitments, the students from Assam have excelled.

Giving details of the university’s students from the state, the Chandigarh University said that more than 16 students of engineering, management and hotel management from Assam have managed to get 24 offer letters from top MNCs like Microsoft, IBM, Google, Amazon, Wipro, Cognizant, Bank of America and others during last season’s campus placements.

“There are more than 6 students from Assam like Priyanka Changmai, who is a computer science engineering student from Tinsukia who has been selected by multiple companies during campus placements,” revealed Chandigarh University spokesperson Puneet Sharma during a press conference in Guwahati. “Priyanka was selected by top MNCs like Wipro, Cognizant and Mindtree,” he added.

Talking about other students from the region, Sharma said that Biswajit Bora, a mechanical engineering student from Nagaon, was selected by Mu Sigma, Samsung and Godrej.

“Students are now opting for specialized and industry oriented programs in emerging areas as they offer better placement opportunities. Chandigarh University has excelled in providing programs in emerging areas such as aerospace engineering, mechatronics engineering and industry collaborative courses such as IBM collaborative computer science engineering in emerging fields of cloud computing, big data analytics and information security,” the spokesperson added, detailing about the achievements on the university.

Launching the all-India scholarship-based entrance test, CU-SAT (Chandigarh University Scholarship and Admission Test), the university said that CU-SAT would be a scholarship-based all-India entrance test for under-graduate and MBA programmes where students can become eligible for academic scholarships worth Rs 10 crores.

The university launched a career counseling facility at Guwahati and added that the students from the Northeast can avail this facility for career guidance at free of cost throughout the year where a team of experts would be available to counsel the students.
