Bharatiya Janata Party leader Subramanian Swamy on Monday created a huge fuss in Assam as the leader tweeted about a “rumour” that Gaurav Gogoi could join BJP soon.
“There is a rumour in Guwahati that former chief minister’s son may join BJP. If true, then will his foreign British wife continue Christian conversion activity?” the leader tweeted, in what is seen as a clear reference to Congress MP Gaurav Gogoi and his wife Elizabeth Gogoi.

Laughing at the tweet, Gaurav Gogoi asked the people of the state to ignore the BJP leader and laugh instead. “Let’s have some laugh…. You better ask him (Subramanian Swamy)…what’s going on in his mind. At present, we are focusing on the issues of the people here in Assam,” Gaurav Gogoi told reporters in Guwahati. The leader didn’t elaborate on Swamy’s allegations on his wife.
BJP leader Subramanian Swamy’s tweet was retweeted a number of times and people quizzed him about the source of the information. The leader didn’t reply till the filing of this report.
