Itanagar-based daily newspaper, The Arunachal Times, on September 4 announced its scholarship programme for undergraduate and post-graduate media students of the Northeast region.

“We invite applications from undergraduate and post-graduate media students of the northeast for The Arunachal Times Media Scholarship for the 2018-19 session. The scholarship carries an amount of Rs 1 lakh in each category,” a statement released by the leading daily said.

For the undergraduate scholarship, media students belonging to Arunachal Pradesh and pursuing their course in the state or elsewhere in India and studying in semester 3-6 are eligible to apply. The applicants can either be an APST and/or a domicile of the state or whose parents are serving with the state government.

For the post-graduate scholarship programme, the applicants can be media students from Arunachal Pradesh, Assam, Meghalaya, Manipur, Mizoram, Nagaland, Sikkim and Tripura. Students from these states, studying outside the region, can also apply.

Stating about the selection criteria, the Arunachal Times statement said that the selection process will involve two phases.

In phase 1, applicants will have to submit two 1500-words each articles: one interview-based feature on a person/issue of choice and one article on the LGBTQI Community.

In the second phase, the top 20 per cent of the shortlisted candidates will have to appear in an online interview/interaction for the final selection.

The last date for submission of application is October 15 while the first shortlist will be declared on November 15 and the final award of scholarship will be announced on December 15.

Each feature article, to be sent as attachments, should accompany a cover page with details of the applicant – name, scholarship applied for and the title of the feature. Also, the applicant will have to provide proof of residence and proof of study level. The submissions can be mailed to [email protected] (for undergraduate students) and [email protected] (for post graduate students).
