The Tinsukia division of NF Railway became the first division of NF Railway to close down all unmanned level crossing gates.

An official release by NF Railway stated that all the unmanned crossing gates under the division were eliminated which earlier were potential threats and prone to accidents.

“Railway Board has issued instructions to all zonal railways to eliminate all unmanned level crossing gates to ensure better safety in train running. The unmanned gates are eliminated by providing gateman, by constructing LHS (limited height subways) or by direct closure by taking necessary NOC (no objection certificate) from the concerned district administration,” the official statement issued by chief public relations officer, Pranav Jyoti Sharma said.

There were 258 level crossing gates in Tinsukia division.

Tinsukia railway division is one of the five railway divisions under Northeast Frontier Railway zone of Indian Railways. The division includes stations at Dibrugarh, Tinsukia and Jorhat.
