Tripura asks Mizoram to withdraw 144 of CrPC from Phuldungsei village

Responding to Mizoram government over the constructing of a temple in Phuldungsei village at Thaidowr Tlang locality, Tripura government reiterated that the proposed area belongs to the state and there is question of dispute over land.

In a letter to deputy secretary (home) Mizoram David H Lalthangliana on October 18, additional secretary of Tripura (home) AK Bhattacharjee said: “Kindly direct the district magistrate, Mamit to rectify and withdraw his order immediately as these areas mentioned in the prohibitory order already under administrative control of North Tripura district since creation of state of Tripura.”

To prevent the movement of people in Phuldungsei, Mamit district administration of Mizoram imposed section 144 of CrPC along the bordering villages and also, the administration asked Tripura government to stop the attempt of any construction until the land dispute is settled.

A Tripura-based Hindu believer group Songrongma has announced plans to build a Shiva temple at Betlingcchip, the highest peak of Tripura, at Thaidowr Tlang. The community construction work for the temple was proposed to be held on October 19-20, which enraged the Christian community in the area.

The Jampui Mizo Convention, a socio-religious body, has called for a shutdown on October 19 and 20 after Mamit district administration clamped an order prohibiting assembly of more than five persons.
