Tripura to introduce dress code for teaching and non-teaching staff in schools
Tripura government has decided to introduce dress code for the teachers and non-teaching staff of the schools to further smoothen the academic atmosphere in the campus under the newly launched vidyajyoti mission.
According to the new guidelines, some restrictions on dresses have been imposed for the teachers and other staff in the school and they were recommended to wear the dresses as proposed while in schools. The department has already taken the initiative to design unique and separate dress-codes for primary, upper primary and secondary level teachers (both male and female) keeping certain parameters in mind.
The formal shirts, pants, suits, sweaters, jackets/blazers and button collar shirts would be accepted for male teachers while female teachers are recommended to wear sari and blouse and salwar suits along with formal traditional dresses. Moreover, the shoes also have to remain formal for both male and female teachers.
Apart from this, the school staffs are asked not to wear Jeans, drooping pants, clothing with holes, yoga pants, excessive piercings and using distracting accessories such as hair-style and hair colour tattoos spike collar those are believed to have an adverse effect on children’s mind as well as on academic ambience.
“Education is a professional field that requires teachers and employees to be dressed appropriately in terms of colour, design and style that to help the institution to maintain the proper environment in the campus and also these have a psychological effect on the students. In addition to proper etiquette, it is becoming more apparent that the ways in which teachers dress affect student learning,” said education minister Ratan Lal Nath.
He claimed that BJP-IPFT government has set the milestone for education to achieve in next one and half years but it would be possible only when teachers, guardians and other stakeholders of the society contribute in the process besides, students.
“There has been a visible change in syllabus, curriculum, discipline, a mechanism for improvement of learning and aptitude of the students in last one year but many things need to be done for fundamental development of education for which we are working,” Nath added.
