Tripura government has decided to run Shramik Special train from Mumbai to Agartala and special trains from Bengaluru, Chennai, Hyderabad and Kolkata soon for bringing home those people who are stranded in respective states due to the nationwide lockdown.
Spokesperson of the state government, Education Minister Ratan Lal Nath stated that even Tripura wanted to bring the people fast but it needs consent from respective state governments and Indian Railways authority. Moreover, bringing a large number of people at a time would be difficult to handle at this situation.
He informed that a Shramik Special train from Bengaluru to Agartala in on its way with 1140 passengers.
This week one more train from Bengaluru, one each from Mumbai, Chennai and Hyderabad would start with the stranded passengers after due health checkup and other formalities.
The Railway Ministry has also announced to run a special train between New Delhi and Agartala from May 18.
Nath pointed out that for handling the home comers, Tripura government has formulated a standard operating procedure, which would be implemented from May 12 when the first train of stranded people from Bengaluru would reach Agartala.
“All the doors of the coaches are locked and it would be opened one by one and the passengers will have to maintain queue in the health desk, maintaining a physical distance. All symptomatic patients would be separated at the platform and swab samples of all of them would be collected while sample of every 5th asymptomatic patients would be taken. Finally, all of them would be taken to quarantine. They will be released only after their reports come negative. But they will have to go for 14-days mandatory home quarantine,” Nath added.
