Two school-going tribal girls from Tripura were allegedly sold in Delhi in the name of marriage and job as the parents lodged a complaint with local police station in the bordering subdivision of Gandacharra in the Dhalai district of Tripura, on July 22.

Fathers of two tribal girls, Balyajoy and Shasanjoy from Pancharatan village under Gandacharra police station in the bordering subdivision, lodged a complaint against one Jiten of Boalkhali village under neighbouring Raisyabari police station.

According to the complaint, Jiten married the daughter of Balyajoy identified as Dahapati Tripura (23), recently.

He took her along with the daughter of Shasanjoy promising her a job in Delhi.

The trio left Tripura on June 29. Both Dahapati and the daughter of Shasanjoy were students of local schools.

On July 18, the daughter of Shasanjoy informed her parents over telephone from Delhi that Jiten sold both the girls in Delhi, following which a complaint was lodged.
